Your
bear hunting adventure starts with flying to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Depending on your choice, we will either pick you up or you may rent a
vehicle and drive to our lodge at White Fox, Saskatchewan. This is a
very scenic 2 hour and 45 minute drive that starts on the prairies,
follows the Saskatchewan River and winds into the forest fringe near
White Fox. We stop at White Fox to check rifles, rest and regroup for
the 45 minute drive north to the bear camp, where you will spend the
next 6 days hunting and possibly fishing.
Our remote bear camp
consists of two cabins - one being a cook house where the guide and I
stay, the other accommodating up to 6 hunters. Your hunt includes all
meals, lodging, transportation to and from the stands and we will also
provide game care.
The area you will be hunting is approximately 212 square miles of
forest that receives very little hunting pressure. We are the only
outfitter in this area. There are also several small lakes in the area
that offer good fishing.
We
normally achieve a 95% success rate on bear hunts. Bears skulls range
in the 18 - 21 inch size, with 30% of bears taken in the brown phase.
The weight range is between 225 - 500 pounds. Keep in mind that these
are spring bear, and weigh considerably less having just come out of
hibernation. We bait with meat scraps, honey, oats, molasses and just
about anything else we find the bear will go after.
